This book examines how Lloyd George attempted to shape the history of the Great War through his \"War Memoirs\". His account of the British conduct of the war was one of incompetence, his criticisms of the British military leadership were biting and the Allied strategic focus on the Western Front was condemned. Yet Lloyd George presided over the very worst British offensives in France and Belgium in 1916-17; and helped provide the weapons which made them possible.
